Our Marginal VAT stock is invoiced under the EU VAT margin scheme. In the Netherlands, BTW is calculated only on the profit margin (selling price minus purchase price), not the full transaction value. This is the standard route for Back Market and Marktplaats sellers. Our invoice carries the required "Art 313 of Council Directive 2006/112/EC" notation. You cannot reclaim input BTW on these purchases, but the effective cost is lower.
Reverse VAT (btw verlegd)
Reverse VAT stock is sold under the intra-EU reverse-charge mechanism. No BTW appears on the invoice — your Dutch business self-accounts for BTW in the Netherlands (21%). This is the correct route for VAT-registered resellers selling B2B or for buyers who need to recover input tax. Your Dutch BTW number must appear on the order.
